Canggu: Beach Clubs, Markets & My Favourite Café
Canggu is Bali’s ultimate surf and social hotspot, known for its beach clubs, trendy cafés, and vibrant nightlife. Whether you’re looking for the best waves, laid-back bars, or a mix of both, Canggu has something for everyone. Here’s my guide to the best things to do, where to eat, and what I’d do differently next time!
✈️ Quick Summary
• Best Place to Stay: Kuta Utara – Close to Echo Beach & Canggu’s best cafés
• Must-Try Food: Indonesian-style Nasi Goreng from a local warung
• Top Activity: Sunset drinks at The Lawn – perfect beach views!
• Would I Go Back? Yes! But I’d avoid some of the more touristy areas

🏝️ Things to Do & See in Canggu
1. Explore Canggu’s Beach Clubs
• Finns Beach Club – Big, busy, and great for parties
• The Lawn – More relaxed & great for sunsets

2. Visit the Love Anchor Market
• Cost: Free entry
• Time Needed: 1 hours
• My Experience: A great place for souvenirs, jewellery & beachwear
• Tip: Bargain! Prices are often marked up for tourists
3. Tanah Lot Temple
• Cost: 60,000 IDR (~£3)
• Time Needed: 1-2 hours
• My Experience: Beautiful temple by the sea, best at sunset
• Tip: Go early to avoid crowds & bring a sarong for temple entry
💡 Would I Recommend? Yes, but Canggu is busy & touristy—it’s great for nightlife, but not for a quiet retreat!
💡 Tips & Recommendations – What I Wish I Knew Before Visiting Canggu
Traffic is a nightmare – Rent a scooter or stay close to where you want to explore
Watch out for “Bali belly” – As always be cautious with using tap water and sometimes the street food
🔄 What I Would Do Differently Next Time
I’d avoid peak times at beach clubs – too crowded & overpriced
I’d skip some of the overhyped cafés – Instagrammable but expensive!
I’d explore quieter beaches like Mengening Beach for a more relaxed vibe
I’d spend more time in Uluwatu instead—less traffic, better beaches
🌟 Final Thoughts – Is Canggu Worth Visiting?
If you love beach clubs, nightlife, and great food, Canggu is amazing. However, if you prefer peaceful beaches and nature, you might find it a bit hectic. Would I go back? Yes but I’m not in a rush to.
